6pm to 7 pm.
Cost $30 + **$10 Equipment fee.

Beginning Fencing
(ages 12+)
7:15 pm to 8:15 pm.
Cost $40 + **$10 Equipment fee.

**Equipment is provided. The equipment fee is for maintaining and purchasing new fencing stuff.

My name is Deborah Schmidt and I love fencing. About 12 years ago, I was looking for something fun to do that was also 'excersize'. I was not into the Gym scene and bored with walking. I was overweight and out of shape.

A local community center offered "Fencing" classes for beginners. I was hooked. I took the same beginning class about 7 times before I was ready for more advanced stuff.

After about 7 years of fencing classes I was talked into 'competing'. WOW! I had never competed in anything. I was always the last person chosen for any sport in school. With a lot of convincing, I finally decided to give it a try.

Athough I was never 1st, I was also never last! And sometimes I was even in the top 10. I was able to qualify for several National competitions and participate in many regional and tri-state tournaments.

I found a new passion for fencing when I started teaching classes and coaching.

Atfer relocating to Jonesboro, Arkansas, I was dismayed to discover there was no fencing club or class available! I procrastinated for about 2 years and decided it was time to start my own school and share this wonderful sport with my new friends here.

 

Why participate? For recognition, inspiration, and health outlet for the stress of everyday life. Fencing is as much a mind sport as it is a physical one.

 

To have fun. And then to have even more fun!
